Mother’s Day is just around the corner so today’s free crochet pattern is a fun textured wash cloth and face scrubby just for your momma. This Crochet Spa Washcloth and Face Scrubby is such a great thoughtful gift for her! Or for you too! Every momma needs a bit of pampering every now and then, this set will do the trick! Plus giving her a gift handmade by you that she’ll always treasure will definitely make her day.
Another great thing about this set is that its environmentally friendly!

I recently found this crochet stitch while reading one of my favorite blogs, Mama In A Stitch. She has a really great tutorial for this stitch! You can find it here. Don’t worry the stitch isn’t complicated at all! This is a beginner friendly pattern.

So let’s get started!
Here’s what you need:
- 1 skein of size 4 Medium weight cotton yarn for your main color. (I used Lily’s Sugar and Cream in the color Ecru.)
- 1 skein of size 4 Medium weight cotton yarn for you accent color. (I used Lily’s Sugar and Cream in the color Rose Pink.)
- Size H/5 mm hook.
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
Stitches Used:
- CH = Chain
- SC = Single Crochet
- SC2TOG = Single Crochet 2 Stitches Together
- PC = Picot stitch
Stitch explanation:
- SC2TOG = Insert
- hook into stitch indicated pull up a loop. Insert hook into next stitch indicated pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops.
- PC (Picot) = When instructed, chain 3, then slip stitch to 1st chain. Work your next stitch like instructed continuing with pattern.
Note: The face scrubby uses the magic ring to work in the round. If you’re not familiar with the magic ring method, you can check out this video to learn.
Pattern for washcloth:
Chain 30.
Row 1: SC into 2nd CH from hook. *CH 1, skip 1 CH stitch, SC in next CH. Repeat from * across. CH 1 and turn. (29 stitches total.)
Row 2: SC into 1st SC. SC2TOG by inserting hook into the next 2 CH spaces. CH 1, * SC2TOG in the CH space you just worked in and the next CH space, CH 1. Repeat from * across ending with a CH 1 and SC in the last stitch. CH 1 and turn. (28 stitches total.) Don’t worry that you lost a stitch, you’ll gain it back in the next row!
Row 3: SC in 1st stitch. *CH 1, skip 1 CH space, SC in next stitch. Repeat from * across ending with CH 1 and SC in last stitch. (29 stitches total.)
Repeat rows 2 and 3 for a total of 25 rows. Your work should measure 7 inches by 7 inches. Cut yarn and finish off. Join new color of yarn with a slip stitch where you finished off. Or use your preferred method of joining yarn.
Picot Border
Round 1: SC evenly spaced around the washcloth. Work 2 SC in your corner stitches. Ending your round with a total of 104 stitches. Slip stitch to 1st SC, CH 1.
Round 2: SC in next 2 stitches. *PC stitch, SC in next 4 stitches. Repeat from * 5 times across this side. After 5th repeat, PC stitch, then SC in next 2 stitches, 2 SC in next stitch. Repeat from * 6 times across this side. After 6th repeat, PC stitch, then SC in next 2 stitches, 2 SC in next stitch. Repeat from * 5 times across this side. After 5th repeat, PC stitch, then SC in next 2 stitches, 2 SC in next stitch. Repeat from * 6 times across this side. After 6th repeat, SC in next stitch, 2 SC in last stitch. Slip stitch to 1st SC. Cut yarn leaving a 6 inch tail. Finish off and weave in your tails.
You’re done with the washcloth! Look at the texture!
Pattern for face scrubby:
Round 1: Using the magic ring method, CH 1, SC 9 times in your loop. CH 1.
(Alternative to the magic ring, CH 4 and slip stitch to the 1st ch stitch. CH 1, SC 9 times around the loop. Slip stitch to 1st SC. CH 1.)
Round 2: SC in 1st SC, *CH 1, SC in next stitch. Repeat from * around ending with CH 1. Slip stitch to 1st SC of round. CH 1 (20 stitched total.)
Round 3: SC in 1st SC, SC2TOG next 2 CH spaces, *CH 1, SC2TOG the CH space just worked in and the next CH space. Repeat from * around. Finish with CH 1 and slip stitch to 1st SC. CH 1. (21 stitches total.)
Round 4: SC in 1st SC, CH 1. *SC in next stitch, CH 1, SC in CH space, CH 1. Repeat from * around. Slip stitch to 1st SC. (42 stitches total.) CH 1.
Round 5: SC in 1st SC, *SC2TOG the next 2 CH spaces, CH 1, SC2TOG the CH space just worked in and next CH space. Repeat from * around. Slip stitch to 1st SC. CH 1
Now to start the finger strap.
Row 1: Without turning your work, SC in next 5 stitches. (5 stitches total.) CH 1 and turn.
Row 2: SC in next 5 stitches. (5 stitches total.) CH 1 and turn.
Repeat for a total of 12 rows.
Cut yarn leaving a tail 8 inches long. Pull through loop to secure. Fold your strap across the front. Now using your yarn needle, whip stitch your strap to the 5 SC stitches on the opposite edge of face scrubby. Once the strap is sewn down, weave in both tails and then flip your face scrubby right side out.
You’re completely finished with making your set! Add a couple of bottles of nail polish, face cream, a bath bomb, or lotion and you’ve got an amazing gift that your momma is going to love!
